- Mowing natural turf to appropriate height and using line trimmers to edge walkways and beds
- Raking leaves, cleaning plant beds, and installing mulch
- Fertilizing natural turf, shrubs, and trees
- Controlling weeds through cultural controls, manual weeding, or appropriate herbicide application
- Using a blower to clean walkways and other areas of landscape debris
- Pressure washing and maintaining hard-scape areas
- Cold patching asphalt parking areas
- Moving about campus each morning, and throughout the day, to remove trash and debris
- Submitting completed work orders to the Landscape Supervisor or Facilities Operations Manager
- Working knowledge of institutional landscape maintenance
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
- Must be safety conscious and aware of basic safety precautions
- When on-call, must be available to assist with emergencies
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. and be able to lift, push, and pull a variety of tools and equipment
- Must be able to operate, or learn to safely operate, basic landscape tools and equipment
- Must be self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision
- Must be able to work within the industry without adverse reaction to common materials encountered during the performance of duties
- Ability to work within and uphold the philosophy of the institution, observe institutional regulations, and cooperate fully in the operation of the institution
